Healing stress addiction

When your subconscious mind and body have taken on emotional trauma, the pain needs to be either pushed down or dealt with in some way, in order to function day-to-day. 
 
Childhood trauma is usually the greatest stressor, as the foundation for our mental and emotional health is solidified during the first seven years of our life. Often people assume they have not experienced much trauma, but the child brain stores stressful memories in a way that protects the mind, and therefore most people are not even able to recall their worst childhood experiences. 
 
Many people choose to repress the subsequent feelings of inadequacy that seep through with a dysfunctional addiction, the most common choices being food, drugs, alcohol or sex. Whether this leads them to be overweight, broke, single or depressed, the root cause is always the same... emotional turmoil that is not being addressed.
 
When someone is fortunate enough to not have a tendency to lean on those vices, they may still have an invisible addiction that they themselves are not even aware of, to stress.
 
This would be evident in-
 
-How busy someone keeps themselves=
-How many others they try to help
-A lack of self-care such as exercise and rest
-Self-harm practices such as improper dieting, nail biting, etc
-Constant complaining
-Isolation
